How to store your robot mower over winter

Modified on Fri, 17 Jul at 12:56 PM

Quick answer

To keep your robot mower in good condition during the winter months, it should be fully charged, cleaned, switched off, and stored in a dry, frost-free location.

We recommend storing your robot mower, docking station, and power supply indoors, such as in a garage, shed, or other suitable protected area.

Before you begin

Before storing your robot mower for winter:

  • Choose a dry, frost-free storage location

  • Allow enough time to fully charge the battery

  • Have suitable cleaning materials available

  • Make sure the mower is switched off before disconnecting any cables

Important:
Always charge your robot mower using the supplied charging dock.

Do not use the USB port to charge the mower. The USB port is for diagnostics and servicing only and is not designed for charging. Using the USB port for charging may damage the mower and could affect your warranty.

Steps

1. Fully charge the battery

Before storing your robot mower:

  1. Place the mower on the charging station.

  2. Allow the battery to fully charge.

  3. Once charged, switch the mower off.

A fully charged battery helps protect the mower during storage and ensures it is ready for the next mowing season.

2. Switch off the robot mower

Turn off the mower using the main power switch.

Depending on your model, this may be a red switch located on the rear of the mower.

3. Clean the robot mower

Before storage:

  1. Remove any grass, dirt, or debris from the mower.

  2. Clean around the wheels and cutting area.

  3. Check that the mower is dry before storing.

Keeping the mower clean helps prevent damage and ensures it is ready for use when the mowing season begins.

4. Disconnect the charging station

Prepare the charging station for storage:

  1. Unplug the power supply from the mains socket.

  2. Disconnect the power supply from the docking station.

  3. Disconnect the boundary wire from the docking station.

  4. Remove and clean the docking station.

5. Protect the boundary wire

The boundary wire can remain installed outdoors during winter.

To protect the exposed wire connections:

  • Use suitable waterproof sealing tape, or

  • Apply water-resistant grease to exposed wire ends

This helps prevent corrosion and protects the connection for the next season.

6. Store your robot mower and accessories

Store the following items in a dry, frost-free location:

  • Robot mower

  • Docking station

  • Power supply

If available, use the original packaging to protect the mower during storage.
